Safety Surfacing

No matter how safe the equipment there is always a chance that children may fall. DT Leisure offers a full range of safety surfaces to suit both budget and site requirement. All our surfaces are certified to EN1177.

Wet Pour
Available with thicknesses starting from 20mm and is certified to Critica lFall Heights (CFH) from 600mm to in excess of 2.5m. Wet Pour is available in a range of colours and can be laid onto good quality existing tarmac or concrete base or onto a new proposed base.

This porous, recycled rubber system is mixed on site and 'poured' into place to create a seamless rubber surface that is easy to maintain.

Grass mats
With a CFH of up to 3m these are ideal for areas where preservation of natural grass surfaces is important. Manufactured from recycled rubber, grass matting can be installed onto existing grass surfaces with a minimum of preparation.

Once the grass has grown through the mats, the product gives a natural grass effect and requires no maintenance other than regular mowing of the grass. This matting is suitable for wheelchair access

Safety surfacing tiles
Can be used in areas where a safer surface is required such as nursery, play area or school to soften a hard area under play equipment. With CFH's of 0.9m to 2.5m these tiles can be used indoors as well as outdoors.

Safety bark
This is an attractive, alternative safety surface for certain types of installation such as smaller, static items. A natural material that blends with park and woodland environments, its relatively low cost also makes it suitable for modest budgets.

Safety Bark is specially selected conifer bark, screened to offer a consistent particle size that provides optimum impact energy absorption to protect youngsters at play. Its low density-to-volume ratio renders it impractical for children to use as a missile!

In order to comply with BS EN 1177, the depth of Safety Bark should be 200mm more than the depth required to meet the HIC (Head Injury Criterion) reading, i.e. the certified Critical Fall Height (CFH) of the Bark.

DT Leisure does not recommend installation of Bark under swings or other moving equipment, because it is easily displaced.

Extra length support legs are required for products being installed into bark surfacing and should be specified when ordering.
